Meals

A full hot lunch, as well as morning and afternoon snacks is provided. All food is prepared by the House of Commons’ Cafeteria and menus are posted and sent to parents weekly. Our food is chosen on the basis of its nutritional value with the food preferences of toddler and preschool children in mind.

You'll find a menu sample here.

Activities

  • Music and dance class
  • Story time with the librarian
  • Daily arts and crafts
  • Special events throughout the year such as visits from Little Ray’s Reptile Zoo, Pyjama day
  • Weekly field trips around Parliament Hill and the surrounding area and bigger field trips such as to Monkey Around and local museums

Social Gathering

Children on the Hill daycare hosts Mother’s Day and Father’s Day breakfasts, a Garden Party in June, and a Christmas Party in December.

Communication

Children on the Hill daycare provides regular communication with parents in person and via the use of a mobile application.  Through the application, parents receive photos of their children engaging in their group activities.  As well, parents are kept informed on their child’s daily routine and developmental progress according to the ELECT curriculum.

We also schedule a meeting with the new parents, the Director and Educators on your child’s first day to ensure a smooth integration, as well as  two parent/educator meetings, one in November and one in May.
